Donating Plasma for Cash $400/Month

Howdy Ags,

I would like to preface each post that I write with a reference to the “About the Author” page so that you know a little about me, and why I am writing this. So please check it out if you haven’t already.

Donating Plasma

Donating Plasma / Blood in College Station is a good way to make a little extra money. You can literally walk in the door as a walk-in, and walk-out with cash in hand.  The company’s name in College Station is BPL Plasma, and the information is below. Their hours are pretty much normal business hours.

Blood Donation Center
Address: 4223 Wellborn Rd, Bryan, TX 77801

If you are wondering if appointments are necessary they are not. This is their reply to that:

“You’ll be happy to know that appointments are not necessary.”

Also, if you check their website: www.cslplasma.com you will see they compensate you for your time:

“You can get paid up to $400 each month by donating life-saving plasma. This is applicable for eligible, qualified new donors. Fees vary by location.

In addition, you can also receive points (called iGive) for your donations.  Z Rewards points can be redeemed for extra cash deposited (loaded) right to your reloadable prepaid Visa® debit card. Check with your preferred CSL Plasma donation center to see if they are participating in any other special promotions.”

The actual break down of the payments look a lot different than hearing the hard sell of $400 a month. Also, their prices change from location and timing of the year.

Recently this was the payouts:

I got $75 per week when I was in college by donating plasma. $30 for the first donation of the week, $45 for the second.

It seems the payouts are smaller for the first time of the week, and the second payout is slightly larger, Im not sure why they do that. The account from an o’l Ag below shows the break down.

An account from another ol’ Ag:

“I used to go on a regular basis back around ’03. Things may have changed, but back then you would max out your payment by going twice a week. I think it went like this:

  • Week 1: $15, $20
  • Week 2: $15, $25
  • Week 3: $15, $20
  • Week 4: $15, $30

Then it would start over. They would also give you an extra $3 or so if you weighed >175 lbs. They gave me an extra $8 per trip because, according to them, I had some sort of uncommon antibody in my blood. I didn’t really understand, but I took the money. I’d try to go in the mornings when they weren’t busy and usually would be in and out within an hour. It goes faster if you stay well hydrated. And you can sit there and read while you wait.”

Timing:

It takes about 70 – 90 mins per visit. Thats kinda a long time, but it’s definitely better than minimum wage.
